What You’ll Do

Confidential Client seeks an entry-level Proposal Analyst / Technical Writer to support proposal development and produce technical documentation for government IT programs. This is a dual-focus remote role: you will create compliant, persuasive proposal content for federal solicitations and convert technical subject matter into clear user-facing documentation (user guides, SOPs, knowledge-base articles, and training materials).

Core responsibilities:

  • Support the business unit’s leadership by translating priorities and government direction into clear, actionable plans, briefings, and organizational materials.
  • Develop and maintain SharePoint sites and information repositories that organize program knowledge and support onboarding.
  • Analyze solicitations (RFPs/RFIs/RFQs), draft compliant proposal sections, and contribute to past performance and resume development.
  • Interview subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather technical details and turn them into clear, concise documentation for non-expert audiences.
  • Produce and edit user guides, SOPs, FAQs, quick-reference cards, and training materials.
  • Create supporting visuals—diagrams, process flows, charts, and infographics—to clarify complex processes.
  • Apply templates, style guides, and government formatting standards to ensure consistency and compliance (including accessibility considerations where required).
  • Collaborate with capture, proposal, delivery teams, and government stakeholders to align messaging, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Deliver assigned artifacts on schedule and iterate based on stakeholder feedback.

Mission Alignment & Strategic Support

You’ll help the business unit translate senior-leader priorities into materials that drive execution:

  • Draft briefings, strategic plans, and process documentation that convert concepts into executable work.
  • Maintain organizational charts and other operational artifacts to reflect current reporting and responsibilities.
  • Support internal training and knowledge sharing by turning government-supplied materials into practical guides.

Proposal Development

As part of proposal teams, you will:

  • Interpret solicitation requirements and draft compliant, compelling responses.
  • Produce and proofread past performance write-ups, resumes, and other proposal attachments.
  • Use storyboarding and proposal best practices to iterate content that highlights win themes and differentiators.
  • Ensure data accuracy and alignment with overall proposal strategy.

Technical Documentation

You will create documentation that helps users and program teams work effectively:

  • Author and maintain user guides, SOPs, help content, and training materials.
  • Conduct SME interviews and structure content for clarity and usability.
  • Build knowledge-base articles and quick-reference materials targeted to non-expert audiences.
  • Support visual content creation to improve comprehension of complex workflows.

Who You Are / Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1–3 years relevant experience, or commensurate experience (degrees in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Journalism, or related fields preferred).
  • Experience responding to government solicitations (RFPs/RFIs/RFQs) and writing compliant proposal sections.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce technical documentation for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong interviewing, editing, and proofreading skills; high attention to consistency in style and formatting.
  • Comfortable working with document templates, style guides, and under deadline pressure.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication; collaborative mindset.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience on government proposals and familiarity with government formatting standards (including Section 508 accessibility).
  • Experience with SharePoint, Confluence, MadCap Flare, or ServiceNow knowledge bases.
  • Ability to create diagrams and visuals (Visio, Lucidchart, Illustrator, or similar).
  • Familiarity with government program operations or defense/government client environments.

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability / Public Trust clearance is required.

Location & Work Authorization

  • This position is fully remote within the United States.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. and located in the U.S. at time of hire.
  • Confidential Client will provide reasonable accommodation to applicants and employees with disabilities in accordance with applicable law.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Posted salary range: USD $60,000 - USD $70,000 per year.
  • Total compensation may vary based on location, experience, and internal equity.
  • Benefits and perks may include health insurance, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), learning & development resources, referral bonuses, internal mobility, pet insurance, and flexible work arrangements (benefits vary by employment status and location).
