Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Proposal Analyst / Technical Writer for a fully remote role within the United States. This dual-focus position supports business growth and delivery by producing compliant, persuasive proposal content (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs) and high-quality technical documentation (user guides, SOPs, knowledge-base articles, training materials). You will interview subject matter experts, translate technical and policy material into clear, audience-appropriate content, and work alongside experienced capture, proposal, and delivery professionals who will coach and mentor you.
This role reports to the Mission Alignment pillar of the business unit and helps convert senior-leader and government direction into usable plans, briefings, and knowledge artifacts.
Responsibilities
Mission Alignment & Strategic Support
- Support the Mission Alignment pillar by turning leadership priorities and government direction into actionable documents and briefing materials.
- Develop strategic plans, briefings, and supporting materials to translate concepts into structured, executable deliverables.
- Create and maintain organizational charts and maintain SharePoint sites to organize and manage business unit information.
- Translate government-provided material into training, onboarding, and internal knowledge-sharing content.
Proposal Development
- Analyze solicitation requirements and develop compliant, persuasive proposal content.
- Draft, edit, format, and proofread responses to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs.
- Support and lead past performance and resume development with oversight and coaching.
- Use proposal best practices (e.g., storyboarding) to iteratively improve content and integrate win themes, discriminators, and messaging.
- Ensure accuracy of data and alignment with overall proposal strategy; deliver artifacts on schedule.
Technical Documentation
- Produce and maintain technical documentation: user guides, SOPs, help guides, FAQs, quick-reference materials, and training assets.
- Conduct SME interviews and information-gathering sessions to translate complex concepts into user-friendly content.
- Support creation of visual aids — diagrams, process flows, charts, and infographics — that clarify mission-critical processes.
Collaboration and Quality
- Work with SMEs, project managers, analysts, and government stakeholders to capture and document business and technical processes.
- Participate in project meetings to understand requirements and timelines.
- Ensure consistency in style, formatting, terminology, and branding across documents.
- Apply document templates, style guides, and government formatting standards (including accessibility considerations) to produce professional-quality deliverables.
- Adhere to organizational quality standards, security requirements, and government documentation policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with 1–3 years of relevant experience (or commensurate experience). Degrees in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Journalism, or related fields preferred.
- Experience responding to government solicitations (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs) and producing compliant proposal sections.
- Demonstrated ability to write and tailor both technical and non-technical proposal content (past performance, resumes) for IT solutions.
- Experience producing technical documentation (user guides, SOPs, training materials) for non-expert audiences.
- Ability to interview SMEs and translate technical concepts into clear, accurate content.
- Strong editing, proofreading, and attention to detail; experience with document templates and style guides.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Prior experience writing for government proposals.
- Familiarity with government documentation and accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508) and agency style guides.
- Experience creating visual aids (Visio, Lucidchart, Illustrator).
- Exposure to documentation/knowledge-management platforms (SharePoint, Confluence, MadCap Flare, ServiceNow KB).
- Familiarity with government program operations and the environments supported by government IT teams.
Clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability / Public Trust clearance is required.
Compensation
- Posted Salary Range: USD $60,000 - USD $70,000 / year.
- The posted range reflects the expected starting range; actual base pay may vary by geographic location, experience, and other lawful factors.
