Position overview
This is a remote, entry-level Technical Writer / Proposal Analyst role supporting a confidential client’s government-facing programs. You will produce compliant proposal content (RFPs/RFIs/RFQs) and user-facing technical documentation (user guides, SOPs, knowledge-base articles, training materials). You will interview subject matter experts (SMEs), translate complex technical material to plain language, and work closely with capture, proposal, and delivery teams.
Responsibilities
- Support mission alignment by translating leadership and government priorities into clear, actionable materials (briefings, plans, org charts).
- Produce compliant and persuasive proposal content (past performance, resumes, technical and non-technical sections) for federal solicitations.
- Draft, edit, format, and proofread responses to RFPs, RFIs, and RFQs using proposal best practices (storyboarding, win themes).
- Create and maintain technical documentation: user guides, SOPs, FAQs, quick-reference guides, and knowledge-base articles.
- Run SME interviews and information-gathering sessions to turn technical concepts into user-focused content.
- Build and maintain SharePoint sites or knowledge repositories to organize team documentation.
- Develop simple visual aids (process flows, diagrams, charts) to support documentation and proposals.
- Ensure consistent style, formatting, terminology, and compliance with government formatting or accessibility standards.
- Deliver high-quality artifacts on schedule and follow security and quality policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 1–3 years relevant experience preferred.
- Experience writing or contributing to government proposals (RFPs/RFIs/RFQs) and an ability to produce compliant proposal content.
- Demonstrated technical documentation experience (user guides, SOPs, help content) for non-expert audiences.
- Strong interviewing, editing, and proofreading skills; attention to detail and consistency.
- Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with templates and style guides.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and time-management skills; able to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
Preferred
- Prior proposal-writing experience for federal contracts.
- Familiarity with Section 508, agency style guides, or other government documentation standards.
- Experience with SharePoint, Confluence, MadCap Flare, or ServiceNow knowledge base.
- Ability to create visual aids using Visio, Lucidchart, or Illustrator.
- Background working with government program operations or supporting IT solutions.
Compensation & Location
- Location: Fully remote within the United States (telecommute).
- Posted salary range: USD $60,000 - USD $70,000 per year. Actual pay may vary based on experience, location, and other factors in accordance with applicable state pay transparency laws.
Clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance is required.
