Responsibilities

This is a dual-focus, early-career writing role supporting proposal development and technical documentation for a confidential client. Responsibilities include:

  • Support Mission Alignment & Strategic materials: translate senior-leader priorities and government direction into clear, actionable briefings, plans, and organizational charts.
  • Build and maintain SharePoint sites and internal knowledge resources to organize and share business-unit information.
  • Produce proposal content (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs): analyze solicitation requirements and draft, edit, format, and proofread compliant, persuasive sections.
  • Support past performance and resume development, including drafting and editing multiple past-performance narratives and candidate resumes.
  • Apply proposal best practices (storyboarding, win themes) to align assigned sections with overall strategy and messaging.
  • Create technical documentation: user guides, SOPs, knowledge base articles, FAQs, quick-reference guides, and training materials.
  • Conduct SME interviews and convert technical subject matter into concise, non‑technical language for target audiences.
  • Assist in developing visual aids (diagrams, process flows, charts, infographics) to improve clarity of mission‑critical documentation.
  • Ensure consistency in style, formatting, branding, and accessibility standards across documents and proposal submissions.
  • Deliver assigned artifacts on schedule and adhere to organizational quality, security, and government documentation policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1–3 years relevant experience, or equivalent experience. Degrees in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Journalism, or related fields are a plus.
  • Experience responding to government solicitations (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs) and writing compliant proposal content.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and edit both technical documentation (SOPs, user guides, help content) and proposal content (past performance, resumes).
  • Strong interviewing skills to extract technical information from SMEs and translate it for non‑expert audiences.
  • Excellent editing, proofreading, and organizational skills; attention to consistency in formatting, style, and terminology.
  • Experience using document templates and style guides.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience writing for government proposals and familiarity with government formatting standards (e.g., Section 508, agency style guides).
  • Experience producing visual documentation assets (Visio, Lucidchart, Illustrator).
  • Familiarity with knowledge-management and documentation platforms (SharePoint, Confluence, MadCap Flare, ServiceNow KB).
  • Background or exposure to government program operations.

Clearance Required

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability / Public Trust clearance.

Compensation

  • Posted salary range: USD $60,000 – USD $70,000 per year (range posted by the confidential client). Final offer may vary based on experience, location, and other factors.

The confidential client’s typical process includes:

  • Virtual video interviews (camera on required) with hiring manager and/or team. A valid photo ID will be requested for verification.
  • Enhanced identity verification and background screening, which may include: criminal history (past 7 years), education verification, and employment verification (past 7 years).
  • Additional onboarding checks as required for suitability/public trust adjudication.
