Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Technical Writer / Proposal Analyst to join a mission-driven team supporting federal customers. This fully remote role in the United States combines proposal writing (RFP/RFI/RFQ response) with technical documentation—user guides, SOPs, knowledge-base articles, and training materials. You will interview subject matter experts (SMEs), translate technical information into clear, user-friendly content, and work closely with capture, proposal, and delivery teams that will provide mentoring and guidance.

This posting includes a salary range: USD $60,000 – $70,000 per year.


What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Mission Alignment & Strategic Support

  • Support the business unit by turning senior leadership priorities and government direction into clear, actionable materials.
  • Produce briefings, strategic plans, and supporting content that translate concepts into executable documents.
  • Create and update organizational charts and SharePoint sites to organize and share information.
  • Convert government-provided materials into training and onboarding content for internal teams.

Proposal Development

  • Analyze solicitation requirements and draft compliant, persuasive proposal sections (RFPs/RFIs/RFQs).
  • Support past performance and resume development; lead sections with oversight when assigned.
  • Edit, format, and proofread proposal content to align with win themes and overall proposal strategy.
  • Use proposal best practices (storyboarding, iterative drafting) to deliver high-quality artifacts on schedule.

Technical Documentation

  • Develop and maintain user guides, SOPs, help content, quick-reference guides, and training materials for non-expert audiences.
  • Interview SMEs and convert technical concepts into clear, accurate documentation.
  • Produce knowledge-base articles, FAQs, diagrams, process flows, charts, and other visual aids.

Collaboration & Quality Assurance

  • Work with SMEs, project managers, and stakeholders to capture requirements and documentation needs.
  • Apply document templates, style guides, and government formatting standards (e.g., Section 508 where applicable).
  • Ensure consistency in style, terminology, and branding across deliverables.
  • Adhere to security and quality policies; perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) with 1–3 years relevant experience; degrees in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Journalism, or similar preferred.
  • Experience responding to government solicitations (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs) and writing compliant proposal sections.
  • Demonstrated ability to write technical documentation (user guides, SOPs, training materials) for non-expert audiences.
  • Strong interview, editing, and proofreading skills; attention to detail and consistency.
  • Comfortable working with document templates and style guides.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and ability to obtain/maintain Suitability/Public Trust clearance.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with government documentation standards and accessibility (Section 508).
  • Experience creating diagrams and infographics (Visio, Lucidchart, Illustrator).
  • Exposure to SharePoint, Confluence, MadCap Flare, or ServiceNow knowledge bases.
  • Prior experience supporting government programs or mission-driven IT projects.

Clearance & Location

  • This is a fully remote role within the United States.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance is required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Posted base salary range: USD $60,000 – $70,000 per year.
  • Total compensation may vary based on location, experience, and other individualized factors.
