Technical Writer (Remote)
The Technical Writer at Confidential Client is responsible for producing clear, compliant proposal content and technical documentation such as user guides, SOPs, and training materials to support federal government projects. This fully remote role involves collaborating with subject matter experts and proposal teams to translate complex technical and solicitation requirements into accessible, high-quality documents that align with government standards and organizational goals.

What You’ll Do
This role supports a confidential client’s proposal and documentation efforts. You will produce proposal content and technical documentation used by programs and government customers. Key responsibilities include:
- Support mission-aligned materials by translating leadership and government priorities into clear, actionable documents (briefings, strategic plans, org charts).
- Build and maintain SharePoint sites and knowledge repositories to organize and share information across the business unit.
- Draft, edit, format, and proofread proposal sections (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs), including past performance and resumes.
- Apply proposal best practices (storyboarding, win themes) to develop compliant, compelling submissions.
- Produce technical documentation: user guides, SOPs, training materials, knowledge-base articles, FAQs, quick-reference guides.
- Interview subject matter experts (SMEs) and translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly content.
- Create or support visual aids—diagrams, process flows, charts, infographics—to enhance documentation.
- Ensure consistency with templates, style guides, accessibility/formatting standards, and organizational quality/security policies.
- Deliver assigned artifacts on schedule and collaborate closely with capture, proposal, and delivery teams.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent experience; 1–3 years relevant experience preferred.
- Experience responding to government solicitations (RFPs/RFIs/RFQs) and drafting proposal content.
- Demonstrated ability to write technical documentation (user guides, SOPs, help content) for non-expert audiences.
- Strong interviewing, editing, and proofreading skills; attention to style, formatting, and consistency.
- Experience working in document templates and style guides.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
Preferred
- Direct experience writing for government proposals and familiarity with government formatting expectations (e.g., Section 508).
- Experience with SharePoint, Confluence, MadCap Flare, or ServiceNow knowledge bases.
- Ability to produce visual assets (Visio, Lucidchart, Illustrator).
- Familiarity with government program operations and mission environments.
Compensation & Benefits
- Posted salary range: USD $60,000 - $70,000 per year (listed by the confidential client).
