Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Technical & Sim Support Specialist (Tier 1/2) to support campus IT, classroom technology, and simulation (SimCare) environments in Chicago, IL. This role provides a mix of desktop, AV, imaging, and hands-on simulation equipment support. Candidates should have solid desktop/help-desk experience, Active Directory knowledge, and the ability to perform intermediate SimCare technical tasks.
Responsibilities
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for campus and associated/remote locations (staff, students, faculty).
- Conduct daily inspections of classroom and lab equipment; log and manage repair tickets.
- Build and deploy system images and software packages.
- Assist and supervise student workers and temporary support staff.
- Ensure lab equipment and software meet academic delivery requirements and maintain lab security.
- Support network, server, telecommunication, and printer systems at an entry/intermediate level.
- Follow standard operating procedures and participate in training and evaluation sessions to improve lab environments.
- Act as the on-site liaison for facilities-related vendor coordination and work orders.
- Provide approximately 10 hours/week of SimCare support: respond to requests, perform equipment setups, and support on-site training, webinars, and conferences.
- Troubleshoot and maintain simulation hardware and environments including (but not limited to):
- Laerdal SimMan 3G and Laerdal mid-fidelity manikins
- Gaumard high-fidelity manikins (Noelle, Baby Hal, pediatric manikins)
- SAM II model systems, Sim Pads, Link Boxes
- Podium PCs, projectors, WOW carts, laptops
- AV control boxes, LCD displays, cameras, and conference equipment
- Learning Space servers and website support
- Complete other duties as assigned and work occasional evenings/weekends as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a technical field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in desktop support or a help desk role (required).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with Microsoft Active Directory in a large network environment (required).
- Entry-level experience with networking, data, and voice systems (required).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems: installation and troubleshooting.
- Advanced PC troubleshooting skills and hands-on hardware/software installation experience.
- Experience with classroom/AV equipment and printing troubleshooting preferred.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Required: Completion of SimCare Technical Support Certification (Laerdal, Gaumard, and Learning Space training).
- Preferred: A+ and/or MCP certifications.
- Strong customer-service orientation, communication skills, and ability to prioritize and document work.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $38,894.07 — $68,341.37 per year (range provided per pay-transparency requirements; actual pay will be based on experience and other permitted factors).
- Benefits include: health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; 401(k) with 6% employer match; Flexible Time Off (FTO); and 12 paid holidays.
- This is a full-time role based in Chicago, IL and may require occasional evenings or weekends.
