What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Technical Sales Account Manager / Key Account Manager (Sales Engineer) to develop strategic partnerships with manufacturing customers by combining engineering expertise with consultative sales. This is an entry-level to early-career technical sales role focused on conveying and power transmission solutions.
- Develop deep knowledge of assigned customer accounts, their equipment, manufacturing processes, and business needs.
- Recommend conveying and power transmission products and application-specific solutions to improve productivity and reliability.
- Conduct customer visits, application reviews, product demonstrations, basic troubleshooting, and process assessments.
- Identify opportunities for product replacements, upgrades, competitive conversions, and process improvements.
- Support product installation, commissioning, and start-up activities when needed.
- Work closely with internal Engineering, Technical Services, Product Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Customer Care to deliver solutions.
- Maintain accurate pipeline and customer records in CRM (example: SugarCRM) and follow structured sales processes.
- Prepare quotations, support commercial discussions, and follow up to close opportunities.
- Represent the client at seminars, customer trainings, trade shows, and industry events; deliver technical presentations and workshops.
Responsibilities & Cross-Functional Work
- Build and maintain relationships with engineering, maintenance, operations, and purchasing contacts at customer sites.
- Support account plans focused on retention, growth, and long-term partnership.
- Communicate customer feedback, product requirements, and market trends to internal teams.
- Participate in failure analysis, continuous improvement, and Voice of Customer activities.
- Keep current on conveyor technology, polymer materials, power transmission systems, and automation trends.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent combination of education, technical training, and experience.
- Up to 4 years of experience in technical sales, application engineering, manufacturing, industrial products, conveyor systems, or related fields.
- Strong technical aptitude and a basic understanding of mechanical systems, industrial equipment, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills; able to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Customer-focused with strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and follow-up skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with CRM systems and structured sales cycles.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle for customer travel.
Work Environment, Physical Demands & Travel
- Office-based role with frequent visits to manufacturing sites and customer facilities; exposure to forklift traffic, equipment noise, and production processes is possible.
- Able to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods; frequent use of hands and arms for product samples and demonstrations.
- Able to lift up to 20 lbs regularly and up to 40 lbs in some assignments.
- Extensive travel required (up to 50%), including overnight stays for customer visits, trade shows, and training.
- Onboarding includes technical and commercial training at client facilities (example: multi-week training location).
Compensation
- Estimated pay: $90,834 per year (estimated figure shown in source). Actual compensation and benefits will be determined by the Confidential Client and may vary by location and candidate experience.
