About the Role
Confidential Client is a leader in Artificial Intelligence / Data Services focused on delivering high-quality, production-ready datasets and AI pipelines. We are seeking a Technical Intern (Masters or PhD) — an entry-level Data Scientist / Applied Scientist role — to join a remote, part-time contract team focused on improving AI quality, integrating large language models (LLMs) into production, and building scalable tooling.
This role is ideal for candidates with strong Python skills, experience in NLP or deep learning libraries (PyTorch or TensorFlow), and a passion for hands-on model integration and evaluation.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor and stay current with developments in the AI and LLM ecosystems.
- Integrate state-of-the-art LLMs (OpenAI and open-source models) into production workflows alongside engineering and program teams.
- Build tools and automation to improve end-to-end AI quality for production systems.
- Leverage multi-domain datasets to design and implement robust solutions that meet defined metrics.
- Communicate results, demos, and progress clearly to stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus 1+ years of relevant experience (research, predictive analytics, etc.).
- 3+ years coding in Python with practical experience in natural language processing or deep learning.
- 1+ years using a deep learning library such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to AI model quality, and ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Experience working with LLMs and prompt engineering.
- Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns and vector databases.
- Experience building evaluation tooling or production ML pipelines.
- Prior work in an AI/data-foundry, platform, or research environment.
Compensation & Logistics
- Payrate: $40 / hour.
- Engagement: Contract — Part-time, Remote (USA).
