Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Mechanical Technical Field Advisor I to support complex mechanical installations on large power-generation projects. This field-based, full-time role is based in Lake Mary, FL and focuses on hands-on installation and commissioning of gas turbines, steam turbines, large-frame generators, and associated auxiliary equipment while actively mitigating risk to personnel, equipment, schedule, and cost.


Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate core competencies: action-oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership.
  • Serve as the site-level Mechanical Technical Field Advisor (TFA) for Confidential Client equipment, providing hands-on technical support during construction and commissioning.
  • Champion safety, equipment protection, and first-time quality (JHAs, hazard controls, hold points, and intervene when work practices create risk).
  • Support planning and execution of high‑risk and complex activities, including critical lifts and sensitive installations.
  • Partner with EPC and site teams to ensure compliance with safety, quality, installation, and project requirements; resolve field issues promptly.
  • Identify and resolve technical and equipment deficiencies that affect schedule, equipment integrity, cost, or warranty exposure.
  • Manage and support Project Action Requests (PARs), coordinate responsible parties, escalate issues when needed, and drive timely closure.
  • Support completion of erection packages, check sheets, mechanical completion walkdowns, punch lists, and required field documentation/sign-offs.
  • Maintain a strong field presence, prepare daily activity reports, identify emerging risks, capture lessons learned, and recommend corrective actions to prevent rework and keep the project on schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or equivalent power-plant construction experience.
  • 2+ years progressive mechanical field experience supporting large EPC power projects; experience with OEM GTCC (gas turbine combined cycle) installations preferred.
  • OSHA 10-hour training preferred but not required.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret procedures, technical documentation, and drawings; prepare clear reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communicator in field-based, customer-facing environments; able to work with site teams, customers, and project leadership.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally and to work full-time at project sites for extended assignments (12–18 months). Valid driver’s license and passport required.
