What You’ll Do
This contract role supports the People Domain Activation project to help the People domain transition to a Data-as-a-Product operating model. You will partner with Domain Owners, Data Engineering, stewards, and cross-functional business teams to inventory People data assets, define data and quality standards, and translate business needs into data product user stories.
- Lead the inventory and cataloging of People domain data assets.
- Partner with data architects and engineers to support conceptual, logical, and physical data models for People data.
- Define and document data quality rules, validations, and issue-management workflows for People assets.
- Translate business requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, and data mapping specifications for activation sprints.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets from multiple sources to identify trends and actionable insights.
- Use Microsoft Purview (catalog and lineage) to identify trusted datasets, assess data health, and evaluate downstream impacts for reporting and analytics.
- Work with business users to gather requirements and deliver data analysis and reporting solutions.
- Support business cases and strategic initiatives with quantitative analysis.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders through clear reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to implement data management best practices and continuously improve processes.
What We’re Looking For (Required Qualifications)
- Strong understanding of HR / People data and HR processes.
- Experience handling PI/PHI and awareness of data privacy considerations.
- Familiarity with DM&G standards and enterprise operating models.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages (SQL, Excel, Python).
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present complex data clearly.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) is required.
- Ability to work in a contractor capacity and collaborate in Agile/cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)
- Prior experience in the HR domain or insurance industry.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Purview (data catalog, lineage).
- Familiarity with cloud-based data lakes/hubs and database management systems.
- Experience with data product activation or Data-as-a-Product operating models.
Location & Schedule
- Contract role based in New Jersey (NJ), US.
- Hybrid schedule — typically 3 days per week onsite (location within New Jersey to be confirmed by client).
Compensation
- Pay rate: $65–$80 per hour (depending on experience).
