What You’ll Do
Confidential Client’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) is seeking a Technical Business Analyst I to support the Biomedical Informatics Core (BMIC). This entry-level technical business analyst role focuses on front-line service desk support, application operations, and project support for investigator teams.
- Provide production support for incident resolution and change requests for service-recharge projects.
- Coordinate day-to-day application operations and BMIC service desk activities.
- Follow, develop and maintain user-facing documentation and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Implement and manage change control and quality assurance (QA) processes.
- Gather, clarify, and document business requirements to support project operations.
- Configure, debug, test, and deploy informatics solutions for investigator-initiated projects.
- Assist investigators implementing research workflows using tools such as REDCap and OpenSpecimen.
- Promote best practices in data management, including data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- First-line troubleshooting and ticket resolution aligned with BMIC SOPs.
- Document technical solutions and write/update user manuals and SOPs.
- Test and validate configuration changes, deployments, and integrations.
- Support investigators and research teams operationally and technically.
- Participate in change control boards and QA reviews as required.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, changes, and project activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) plus 2 years of directly related work experience, or a Master’s (or equivalency).
- Entry-level or early-career experience supporting applications, service desk operations, or research informatics workflows.
- Basic experience with testing, debugging, and deploying software/configurations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable producing user documentation and SOPs.
- Ability to follow established change-control and QA processes.
Preferred / Helpful Skills
- Familiarity with REDCap and OpenSpecimen or similar research data capture/sample management systems.
- Experience in a biomedical informatics, clinical research, or academic research environment.
- Understanding of data management best practices, HIPAA/regulated-data considerations, and security fundamentals.
- Ability to gather and document business requirements and translate them into technical tasks.
Schedule, Location & Compensation
- Employment type: Full Time
- Work schedule: Business hours, arranged with supervisor
- Location: Fort Douglas, UT — candidates must be available to work from the state of Utah
- Pay Rate Range: $60,000–$66,000 per year
