Teacher Itinerant Deaf/Hard of Hearing
The Teacher Itinerant – Deaf/Hard of Hearing provides specialized educational services to students with hearing impairments across multiple school locations in Phoenix, Arizona. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education programs, delivering instruction aligned with state standards, assessing student progress, and collaborating with educators, families, and service providers to support student success. The position requires onsite presence with travel to various schools within the service area.

Key Responsibilities
Provide specialized itinerant instruction and related services to Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students across multiple school sites in the Phoenix area.
- Provide high-quality instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
- Develop and deliver daily lesson plans aligned with Arizona Academic Standards.
- Assess student abilities and educational needs; design and implement assessments appropriate for students with hearing impairments.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and progress reporting.
- Maintain required educational documentation and evaluate student progress.
- Use appropriate educational and diagnostic practices for students with sensory impairments.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and administrators.
- Implement effective classroom and behavior management strategies.
- Travel to assigned schools and districts to provide itinerant services as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education with coursework specific to sensory impairments or comparable preparation.
- State of Arizona Teaching Certificate with the appropriate endorsement for Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction.
- Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Ability to pass FBI and Arizona State background checks (including Level 1 Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance).
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned service area and attend in-person interviews within the requested timeframe.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of Arizona Academic Standards and K–12 curriculum expectations.
- Understanding of educational and diagnostic practices for students with hearing impairment.
- Experience (or demonstrated ability) developing lesson plans and IEPs.
- Student assessment and progress-evaluation techniques.
- Strong classroom and behavior management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, and school teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
Required Compliance Documents
- Updated resume.
- Level 1 Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- State of Arizona Teaching Certificate with the appropriate DHH endorsement.
- Proof of current Arizona residence (local candidates only).
- Authorization to pass FBI and State background checks.
Additional Requirements
- Local Arizona candidates only; ability to travel to surrounding school districts is required.
- Must be available for in-person interviews within one week of the posting closing date.
- Able to begin employment within two weeks of receiving an offer.
- This is an onsite role based in Phoenix, Arizona.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in K–12 settings.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with sensory impairments.
- Strong collaboration and family-engagement skills.
Compensation & Schedule
- Employment type: W2 Contract.
- Duration: 9 months (school year assignment).
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (40 hours/week).
- Estimated annualized compensation (from source): $90,459 per year (estimated). Actual pay and benefits are set by the Confidential Client.
Work Location
Onsite — Phoenix, Arizona. Travel to multiple schools within the assigned service area is required.
