What You’ll Do

Managing taxes is a critical part of an effective business strategy. As a Tax Consultant, you will support Confidential Client in analyzing the tax implications of business decisions, identifying opportunities to manage tax obligations, and addressing complex tax issues. This entry-level role provides exposure to a variety of clients, industries, and service offerings while building technical knowledge, problem-solving capabilities, and client service experience.


Responsibilities

  • Research tax laws, rules, and guidance to support client engagements.
  • Assist with analysis of tax issues, transactions, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare work products and recommendations for client teams and clients.
  • Collaborate with team members to address technical tax matters and deliverables.
  • Manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines and quality standards.
  • Communicate findings clearly in written deliverables and client interactions.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with expected graduation by Summer or Fall 2028, OR completed a bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, Taxation, or related/equivalent program.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Must meet the educational requirements to sit for or pursue CPA licensure for the state of the assigned office prior to starting full-time employment (requirements vary by state).
  • Must reside within a commutable distance of the assigned office and be able to commute daily if required; typical co-location expectation averages 2–3 times per week depending on project needs.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% on average, depending on client and project requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high quality of work product.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or interest in information systems, data analytics, or tax technology.
  • Prior internship, summer position, or work experience in accounting, tax, or finance.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and client-service orientation.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range (estimate): $54,160 to $99,600 per year. This range reflects factors such as skills, experience, licensure/certifications, and business needs. Where applicable, this is adjusted for geographic differentials. The disclosed range is a good-faith estimate based on the information available at posting.
  • Additional benefits and programs (dependent on role and location) may include health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, professional development support, and resources for licensure (varies by client policies).

Location & Travel

  • Office location: San Diego, CA (postal code: 92108) — you must be within a reasonable commuting distance for the assigned office.
  • Travel requirement: up to 50% on average depending on client engagements.
  • Start date: Summer 2028 or Winter 2029.
