What You’ll Do
The confidential client is hiring Systems Engineers to develop, integrate, verify, and field autonomous maritime vehicles. In this role you will apply systems engineering fundamentals across concept, design, integration, testing, and sustainment activities for unmanned surface and underwater platforms. You’ll work on multidisciplinary teams to translate mission needs into robust system solutions that meet technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
- Perform systems engineering tasks across the full lifecycle: concept, design, fabrication, integration, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
- Translate customer and mission needs into clear, traceable system requirements and interface definitions.
- Lead integration and verification activities — coordinate hardware and software integration, create and execute test plans, and document results.
- Conduct functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and risk assessments to support design decisions.
- Produce and maintain accurate systems documentation, including requirements artifacts, system diagrams, and test reports.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering disciplines to ensure seamless system performance and deployable deliverables.
What We’re Looking For
We are hiring multiple levels of Systems Engineers. Candidates must demonstrate strong systems thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication and teamwork.
- Level 1 — Entry: Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or HS Diploma + 4 years relevant experience).
- Level 2 — Early-career: ~2 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s (or Master’s with 0 years; or HS Diploma + 6 years relevant experience).
- Level 3 — Mid: ~5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s (or 3 years with a Master’s; or PhD/JD with 0 years; or HS Diploma + 9 years relevant experience).
- Level 4 — Senior: ~9 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s (or 7 years with a Master’s; or 4 years with a PhD/JD; or HS Diploma + 13 years relevant experience).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
Required skills and fundamentals (depending on level):
- Strong systems engineering, integration, verification & validation experience.
- Requirements decomposition and traceability practices.
- Experience authoring and maintaining technical documentation and test artifacts.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities.
Preferred / Bonus Skills
- Domain knowledge in robotics and naval/autonomous vehicles (UUV/USV).
- Experience with requirements tools (Jama or similar) and Atlassian suite (JIRA, Confluence).
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience.
- Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for model-based design, simulation, and data analysis.
- Familiarity with systems integration in laboratory, industrial, or shipboard environments.
- Strong problem-solving, multitasking, and communication skills.
Physical & Work Environment
- Work may occur in office, industrial, or shipboard environments.
- May require climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, and tolerating temperature variance.
- Occasional lifting and moving of materials required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated salary range provided by the client: $65,203 – $160,000 per year (actual compensation will depend on experience, level, skills, and location).
