Position overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Systems Engineer II — Radar Data Analyst to support radar performance analysis for missile defense flight test missions. This is an onsite, full-time role based in Huntsville, AL. You will evaluate radar behavior from live mission events, run verification/validation analyses in mission-representative environments, and deliver technical findings to internal and government stakeholders.


Key responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and execute radar performance analysis activities supporting live missile defense flight tests; ensure sensor readiness aligned with mission objectives.
  • Analyze radar measurement data from flight-test events to characterize detection, tracking, discrimination, measurement accuracy, and overall sensor performance.
  • Evaluate time-sensitive radar outputs (track timelines, track quality, resource usage) to determine compliance with mission and system-level requirements.
  • Perform pre-mission analysis in engineering tools and flight-test simulation environments to predict radar behavior and identify risk areas.
  • Develop and implement verification strategies for radar capabilities and software builds; support validation in Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop and other mission-representative environments.
  • Investigate anomalies, support troubleshooting, and produce high-quality technical artifacts (performance reports, mission analysis summaries, engineering briefings, data packages).
  • Maintain configuration control of analysis procedures, data pipelines, scripts, and verification artifacts to ensure repeatability and traceability.
  • Present readiness assessments and post-test analysis to technical leadership and mission partners.
  • Travel locally and non‑locally as required to support test activities or customer engagements.

Qualifications — You must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent experience).
  • Hands-on experience with scripting and/or software development (MATLAB, Python, C/C++, and/or Linux environments).
  • Practical systems engineering experience (integration, verification, and/or system testing).
  • Active, transferable U.S. government security clearance (Secret) required on day one.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to hold the required clearance.

Qualifications — We prefer

  • Experience in test, integration, or verification/validation of X‑Band family radars, Early Warning Radars, or other missile defense sensors.
  • Experience analyzing sensor/RF/radar data (time-series measurements, track data, signal returns, discrimination) using engineering tools.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Linux operating systems, and shell scripting for test analysis.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary systems engineering teams and interfacing with internal/external customers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing technical reports and presenting findings to stakeholders.

Compensation & benefits

  • Salary range: 68,900 USD — 131,100 USD per year (good-faith estimate covering all experience levels). Final offers consider role, experience, location, education, and skills.

  • Work location: Onsite in Huntsville, AL.
  • Employment type: Full-time, onsite. Some steps in the interview process may require in-person attendance at an office location.
  • Ability to travel locally and non-locally as required to support test events and customer meetings.
