Position Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Systems Engineer I to support a Defense program in Warrenton, VA. This role focuses on systems requirements, architecture, MBSE-based modeling, and engineering change processes. The position requires an ACTIVE Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship. Regular travel to NSWC Dahlgren Division (approximately once every one to two weeks) is required.
Responsibilities
- Determine impacts to the weapon system, requirements, and design specifications during engineering development.
- Review, analyze, and create requirements at multiple levels (SSS, SSDD, SRS, HRS) for weapon system capability and functionality.
- Develop Candidate Change Packages (CCP) to introduce new capabilities and document design impacts in models and engineering documents.
- Review, analyze, and develop system architectures using MBSE and modeling tools (e.g., MagicDraw/Cameo).
- Provide human factors engineering, prototyping, and analysis support for user interface requirements (HCI Design Specification).
- Review, adjudicate, and update external interface documents.
- Create and resolve change requests (CRs) for system problems or discrepancies between documentation and functionality.
- Support IPT meetings, Engineering Review Boards (ERB), Deficiency Review Boards (DRB), Change Review Boards (CRB), and Interface Working Groups (IWG).
- Prepare and present technical briefs, meeting summaries, and status updates in writing and verbally.
- Actively participate in weekly team meetings and collaborate with government and contractor teammates.
Minimum Requirements
- U.S. citizenship (required to obtain/maintain clearance).
- ACTIVE Secret clearance.
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and able to learn quickly.
- Ability to work collaboratively on diverse teams with government and contractor personnel.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Prior engineering experience on DoD programs or weapon systems (concept definition, architecture, requirements, system design).
- Practical knowledge of MBSE and experience applying MBSE methods to engineering tasks.
- Experience with Cameo, MagicDraw, or similar modeling tools.
- Experience using Jira to document and track CRs and tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and Word.
- Familiarity with human factors/HCI considerations for system interfaces.
Travel & Clearance
- Regular travel to NSWC Dahlgren Division — approximately once every one to two weeks.
- An ACTIVE Secret clearance is required. Selected applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Compensation & Benefits
- Projected annual salary range: $60,000 - $100,000 (USD). Actual compensation will be based on experience, skills, education, clearance, and contract requirements.
