Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Systems Engineer I — Nights to support systems and infrastructure at a large lithium‑ion battery manufacturing facility in De Soto, KS. This is an entry‑level/early career engineering role working onsite during night shift hours, supporting configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation of hardware, software, and network components that enable production systems.
What You’ll Do
- Apply basic systems engineering principles to support infrastructure and system integration tasks
- Assist in configuring, implementing, and maintaining hardware, software, and network components
- Help integrate systems across manufacturing environments, ensuring reliable connectivity and communication
- Perform routine system monitoring and assist with performance checks and issue identification
- Troubleshoot basic hardware, software, and network issues under guidance
- Support system updates, patching, and backup processes
- Help create and maintain system documentation, configurations, and standard work instructions
- Assist with validation testing and document system changes
- Follow established processes for quality, safety, and security; use PPE as required in manufacturing areas
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or a related STEM field — or equivalent relevant work experience
- Basic familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux, or UNIX)
- Exposure to computer hardware and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Familiarity with virtualization or cloud platforms (e.g., VMware, AWS, Azure) and basic scripting/automation concepts (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication in English
- Ability to follow technical instructions, standards, and established procedures
Preferred
- Internship, co‑op, or 1–2 years of entry‑level experience in systems engineering, IT infrastructure, or related fields
- Experience in high‑volume manufacturing or industrial environments (automotive, electronics, energy storage)
- Exposure to monitoring/logging platforms, basic DevOps practices, or database systems
Physical Demands & PPE
- Typical day: Sit 20% / Walk 60% / Stand 20%
- Lifting: up to 10 lbs (frequent), up to 20–35 lbs (occasional); team lift required over 35 lbs
- PPE may be required and can include Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and in some areas respirator/full hazmat suit
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated pay (source): $66,117 per year — actual pay offered may vary based on experience and role
