What You’ll Do

This confidential client is seeking an entry-level Systems Engineer I to support the Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities team in planning and executing integration and verification test events for defense and aerospace systems. You will work hands-on with electronic hardware and test equipment, collect and analyze telemetry and instrumentation data, and help validate system-level performance during lab and field tests.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and executing integration and verification test events
  • Troubleshoot electronic hardware and instrument setups using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers and other lab equipment
  • Collect, instrument, and analyze telemetry and test data; apply scripting or automation to streamline collection and processing
  • Use tools such as MATLAB, Python, and Microsoft Office to analyze data and produce test reports
  • Integrate software routines with hardware testbeds when required (C/C++/C# exposure preferred)
  • Contribute to test documentation: interface control documents, test procedures, and data summaries
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve integration issues

Qualifications

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) completed by the start date
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting electronics in academic, internship, or lab settings, including use of commercial test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
  • Experience using tools such as Microsoft Office, MATLAB, or Python for data analysis and automation
  • U.S. citizenship is required; candidates must hold an active and transferable U.S. government security clearance prior to start or be eligible to obtain an interim clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with coursework in RF electronics
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, interface control documentation, and communications protocols
  • Experience integrating software with hardware (C/C++/C#)
  • Experience with telemetry systems, real-time monitoring, and large data set instrumentation
  • Prior experience in aerospace, defense, or related engineering test environments

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $57,200 — $108,800 per year (good-faith estimate covering all experience levels)
  • Role type: Onsite, full-time — contractor employment option indicated in source posting
