What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Systems Engineer I to join a Systems Integration & Test team supporting Space & Airborne systems. This is an onsite role based in El Segundo, CA. You will help integrate hardware and software, develop and execute test procedures, debug system functions and interfaces, and verify system requirements to support final acceptance and deployment.
- Support planning and execution of integration, verification, and validation test activities in lab and occasional field environments
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and system-interface failures; perform root-cause analysis and corrective actions
- Operate and apply lab/field test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, telemetry recorders, etc.)
- Handle and test system hardware modules and assemblies using required support equipment
- Create and maintain detailed test records, analyze results with tools such as MATLAB, and automate data collection with Python or similar
- Prepare briefings and written reports for engineering leads and stakeholders
- Interpret and maintain design documents (schematics, assembly drawings, interface documentation)
- Maintain engineering databases and contribute to technical solution development with cross-functional engineering teams
- Support production transition, sustainment, and post-deployment engineering tasks
- Participation in test events that may require travel (expected to be no more than ~10%)
What You’ll Learn
- Hands-on systems engineering across the product lifecycle, from integration and test through production and sustainment
- Practical application of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Agile product development practices
- Test design, execution, instrumentation, and data analysis in a high-reliability aerospace/defense environment
Qualifications You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) completed by start date
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting electronics (academic projects or internships acceptable) and using commercial test equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.)
- Experience using tools such as Microsoft Office, MATLAB, and Python for data analysis and test automation
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance is required; U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-discipline teams
Qualifications We Prefer
- Degree major in Electrical Engineering with coursework in RF electronics
- Experience reading electrical schematics and interface control documentation
- Familiarity with communications protocols and integrating software routines with hardware (C, C++, C# preferred)
- Experience with telemetry/real-time data capture and monitoring
- Experience handling large instrumentation datasets and applying scripting/automation for collection and analysis
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (good-faith estimate): $62,900 — $119,700 USD per year
- Compensation may vary based on role, experience, location, and skills
- Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, parental leave, and other programs — eligibility depends on business unit and role
- Relocation assistance may be available for eligible candidates
