Overview
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring a Systems Administrator (Level 2) to support the U.S. Army DEVCOM Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC). This is an on-site, full-time role in Center Line, MI. The Systems Administrator will install, configure, secure, and maintain Linux-based systems for mission operations and support DoD cybersecurity and accreditation (RMF) activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems (RHEL and other enterprise distributions)
- Apply system updates, security patches, and hardening configurations
- Monitor system performance and respond to incidents to maintain availability
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues affecting servers and services
- Manage user accounts, access controls and perform account administration tasks
- Maintain system documentation, configuration records, and standard operating procedures
- Support RMF compliance, system accreditation, and coordination with cybersecurity teams
- Assist end users with system access and operational issues
- Coordinate remediation and monitoring with security teams to meet DoD requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; OR 1 year with a Master’s degree; OR High School diploma (or equivalent) plus 7 years relevant experience
- Hands-on experience administering Linux systems in production or enterprise environments
- Strong command-line Linux administration skills (systemd, storage/filesystems, package management, SSH)
- Experience with enterprise Linux distributions (RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu, Debian)
- Experience troubleshooting system, network, and service issues
- Familiarity with networking configuration and secure remote administration
- Ability to meet DoD Linux administrator certification requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret clearance preferred
- Strong root-cause troubleshooting and incident response skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Familiarity with Bash or Python scripting for automation
- Basic experience with cloud environments (AWS) or container platforms (Kubernetes) is a plus
- Understanding of Git workflows is beneficial
Physical & Work Requirements
- Adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity required for Systems Analyst tasks
- This role requires on-site work in Center Line, MI and cannot be performed remotely
- Typical travel: 0–10% (as needed)
Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated salary range: $65,592.00 - $90,000.00 per year (good-faith estimate; final offer will consider experience, skills, and location)
