What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level System Engineer to help design, install, and maintain core IT infrastructure. This is a hands-on role focused on systems administration, networking fundamentals, and cloud basics. You’ll work closely with engineering, security, and support teams to keep systems reliable and secure.

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers and workstations
• Monitor system performance, availability, and resource utilization
• Support applications, file/services, authentication systems, and enterprise infrastructure
• Configure and troubleshoot networking components: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPNs, and firewalls
• Assist with cloud services and infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
• Apply OS updates, patches, and configuration changes safely
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and performance issues
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls (including Active Directory / Microsoft 365 patterns)
• Support backup, recovery, monitoring, and disaster recovery procedures
• Use scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate routine tasks
• Maintain documentation: runbooks, diagrams, and configuration records
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to follow security and compliance best practices

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field — OR equivalent hands-on experience
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, LAN/WAN fundamentals
• Basic cloud knowledge (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
• Exposure to system administration and troubleshooting processes
• Basic scripting experience: PowerShell, Bash, or Python
• Familiarity with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and container concepts
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

• Experience with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration
• Hands-on with VMware / Hyper-V or container platforms (Docker)
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Splunk, Datadog, SolarWinds) and backup systems
• Understanding of endpoint security, access management, and basic cybersecurity controls
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and ticketing platforms

Experience & Work Arrangement

• Entry-level / 0–2 years in systems administration, IT infrastructure, networking, or technical support
• Academic projects, internships, certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Azure/AWS fundamentals), or lab experience are welcome
• Full-time position; collaborative IT and infrastructure environment with opportunities to progress into cloud, automation, and security tracks

Compensation (Estimated)

• Estimated pay (from source data): $97,370 per year — actual compensation will depend on experience, location, and applicable laws.
