System Administrator

What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring System Administrators to support a range of IT systems used to support national defense missions. You will work independently and as part of teams to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot server, storage, network, and endpoint infrastructure — with an emphasis on secure, highly reliable environments.
- Provide day-to-day operational support, monitoring, and problem resolution across servers, storage, networking, and mobile devices
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, desktops, and network infrastructure
- Configure and manage Linux systems, apply OS enhancements, and ensure system integrity and performance
- Set up and manage storage solutions including NAS and remote storage
- Maintain inventory and lifecycle management for infrastructure hardware
- Implement security best practices and apply patches in accordance with policies
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 break/fix support and escalate appropriately
- Write and maintain command scripts to automate routines and troubleshooting
Minimum Qualifications
- Active clearance required: TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Proven experience administering Linux operating systems and core network services
- Command scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar)
- Experience supporting hardware installation and infrastructure inventory
- Familiarity with storage systems (NAS, SAN, remote storage)
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
- Authorization to work in the United States
Experience Levels
We have openings at multiple levels — candidates may qualify by degree or relevant experience:
- Entry Level — Bachelor’s in a technical field, or 5+ years relevant experience in lieu of degree
- Basic — Bachelor’s in a technical field + 5 years relevant experience
- Mid — Bachelor’s in a technical field + 10 years relevant experience
- Senior — Bachelor’s in a technical field + 15 years relevant experience
Nice-to-Have / Preferred
- Prior DoD or federal IT support experience
- Experience with automation tooling and configuration management
- Familiarity with security controls and compliance in classified environments
Location & Compensation
- Location: Maryland, MD — role is remote/telecommute-capable (telework expectations will be discussed during hiring)
- Estimated base salary: $110,000–$219,000 per year (range from source)
