Position overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Surveying New Graduate based in Manassas, VA. This is an entry-level, full-time position designed for Summer 2027 new graduates who want hands-on field and office experience in land surveying, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), and public-sector projects. The role includes field work using GPS/total stations, CAD-based reductions and mapping, survey data QA/QC, and support for construction stakeout and boundary/topographic surveys.
What You’ll Do
- Perform survey support for construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys
- Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports
- Assist with boundary reductions, topographic field reductions, and mapping in CAD and survey software
- Download, maintain, and verify project survey data; manage the survey database; review processed data and field notes for quality control
- Assist with survey computations, staking and control exhibits, and survey crew instructions
- Operate and support GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors, and other survey tools
- Serve as a survey field technician as requested to complete field work
- Assist CAD technicians in preparing plans and plats that describe surveys performed
- Maintain professional working relationships with clients, contractors, and coworkers
- Operate a company vehicle and follow safety and security procedures
What You’ll Bring (Required)
- Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
- Valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by the employer’s carrier; consent to Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Familiarity or willingness to learn AutoCAD Civil 3D, survey/GPS/data-collector software and office workflows
- Willingness to develop knowledge of land surveying principles, computations, and problem-solving techniques
Preferred
- Prior internship experience in building design consulting, surveying, or related fields

Compensation & Benefits
- State of Virginia Pay Range: $74,000 - $79,000 per year (base pay)
- Additional rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options

The range above is the base pay the Confidential Client reasonably expects to pay for this position in the identified work location. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, education, skills, and licensure.
