Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer on an 18-month contract (possibility of conversion). This hybrid role works 4 days on-site and 1 day remote, standard hours 7:00 AM–4:00 PM. Entry-level candidates and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
What You’ll Do
- Work with suppliers to monitor performance and ensure timely, effective corrective actions are implemented.
- Manage resolution of supplier technical issues to maintain uninterrupted production supply.
- Lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase capability and compliance with customer requirements.
- Document investigations, dispositions, and resolutions for quality complaints.
- Conduct supplier audits to verify product conformity and drive process standardization, waste reduction, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor and improve key supplier quality KPIs (DPPM, quality complaints, On-Time Ship compliance).
- Lead or support setting short- and long-term supplier quality goals.
- Champion root-cause analysis and problem-solving (8D, 5-Why, fishbone) with suppliers and internal stakeholders to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee containment actions at suppliers to mitigate impacts to Confidential Client products and programs.
- Support cross-functional teams on supplier quality matters.
- Travel domestically and internationally (approximately 30% expected).
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Chemical) or related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present technical topics to suppliers and management.
- Knowledge of GD&T and MSA; practical machining/process background preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret metallurgical reports and requirements.
- Solid problem-solving skills and a solutions-focused mindset.
- Familiarity with supplier audits, supplier KPI tracking, and quality system expectations.
- Experience (or coursework/internship experience) with root-cause tools: 8D, 5-Why, fishbone analysis.
- Customer-focused approach to ensure supplier actions meet required expectations.
Details & Compensation
- Employment type: Contract (18 months) — potential for conversion.
- Schedule: Full-time, 4 days in office / 1 day remote; 7:00 AM–4:00 PM.
- Pay: $38.00–$41.00 per hour.
- Location: Redford, MI (company site) with travel ~30%.
- Entry-level / recent graduates welcome.
