What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an Open Rank SUD Intake Counselor to join its Addiction Research & Treatment Services (ARTS) adult outpatient team. This clinician-focused intake role completes substance use disorder (SUD) evaluations and assessments, supports admissions into treatment, and provides backup intake coverage across multiple outpatient clinics and mobile units.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct timely, accurate SUD intakes for new, returning, and transfer patients.
- Complete required evaluations and assessments for admitting patients into treatment.
- Collaborate closely with the AOP intake department to ensure smooth patient flow and coverage.
- Provide clinical support for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) populations and opioid-dependent adults.
- Float among outpatient clinics (Denver, Aurora, Arvada) and provide on-call, Saturday, and occasional evening coverage as assigned.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation (DAP notes, individualized treatment plans) and uphold patient confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support treatment access and patient care.
Location & Schedule
- Primary work location: Centennial, CO (role will float to nearby clinic locations in the metro area as needed).
- Work schedule: Full-time. Shifts may include mornings (e.g., 5:30 am–2:00 pm) or day/afternoon (e.g., 10:30 am–7:00 pm). Saturday and on-call coverage required.

Anticipated hiring ranges (pay transparency for Colorado):
- Entry Level: $60,257 - $76,647 per year
- Intermediate Level: $65,574 - $83,410 per year
- Senior Level: $70,890 - $90,172 per year

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications vary by rank; applicants must meet the required qualifications at time of hire.
Entry Level:
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, human services, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid registration in good standing with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a Certified Addictions Specialist (CAS).
Intermediate Level:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- One (1) year of professional experience in clinical work, case management, or research in mental/behavioral health or related field.
- Valid DORA registration in appropriate candidate-level credentials (for example, LPC‑C, SW‑C, LAC‑C, or MFT‑C).
Senior Level:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Two (2) years of professional-level experience in clinical work, case management, or research in mental/behavioral health or related field.
- Valid DORA registration in full licensed credentials (for example, LCSW, LSW, LPC, LMFT, or LAC).
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, human services, or a closely related field.
- Experience working with clients referred from probation, social services, or criminal justice programs.
- Experience leading or co-leading group counseling sessions.
- Experience working with opioid-dependent adult clients and MAT populations.
- Experience with individual and/or family counseling and developing treatment plans.
- Clinical documentation proficiency (DAP notes) and familiarity with therapeutic confrontation/structure and treatment monitoring.

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage substance-dependent clients in treatment.
- Ability to manage difficult behaviors and establish professional boundaries.
