Role Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Substation Physical Technologist to join their Power Delivery / Substation team in Knoxville, TN. This hybrid, in-office role supports physical design for electrical substations (34.5 kV – 500 kV). Candidates must hold a BS degree; entry-level applicants with relevant transferable experience are encouraged to apply.
What You’ll Do
- Perform physical substation design with a high degree of accuracy and focus on constructability
- Produce CAD deliverables (AutoCAD required; Autodesk Inventor a plus)
- Develop physical design project packages in accordance with company and industry standards
- Coordinate with team members, clients, and stakeholders to meet schedules and budget expectations
- Follow and promote safe work practices on all assignments
Required Qualifications
- BS degree from an accredited university (required)
- Residency within the Knoxville, TN area (role is not remote — in-office work on a hybrid schedule required)
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with engineers, clients, and stakeholders
- Familiarity with AutoCAD; experience with Autodesk Inventor is a plus
Preferred / Helpful Experience
- Prior exposure to power substation engineering or physical substation design (US power industry experience preferred)
- Experience creating constructible design packages and working to project standards
- Demonstrated problem solving and attention to detail
Work Location & Schedule
- Location: Knoxville, TN (hybrid — in-office required)
- This role requires living within the Knoxville area and working collaboratively in an office-centered team environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated salary (from source): $58,290 per year — actual compensation offered by Confidential Client may vary based on experience and internal pay practices.
