What You’ll Do
This entry-level Substation Engineer will join a growing engineering team supporting substation, transmission and distribution projects (12 kV – 500 kV) across the U.S. You'll perform detailed design tasks, contribute to engineering studies, and help prepare construction-ready documentation used on EPC and design projects. Typical responsibilities include:
- Assist in creating one-line and three-line diagrams, protection & control schematics, communications and wiring diagrams.
- Prepare substation layout plans, section/detail drawings, and apply mark-ups to as-built drawings.
- Support specification development for procurement, installation and testing of substation equipment.
- Use engineering software to perform ground grid design, equipment sizing, relay coordination, and other electrical studies.
- Coordinate with project leads, construction teams, client representatives, and other stakeholders to meet project schedules and ensure constructability and safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience (entry-level).
- Eligible to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or hold Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Familiarity with electrical and industry standards: NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI.
- Experience or coursework in protection & control, relay coordination, ground grid and substation layout preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.

- Regular, reliable attendance and ability to meet deadlines.
- Work during normal business hours; occasional overtime and weekend work as project needs require.
- Ability to work at different project locations and under varying site conditions if required.

Location
This position is based in Grandview Heights, OH (Greater Columbus area). Some travel to project sites may be required.
