What You’ll Do

As a Substation Engineer 1 with Confidential Client you will contribute to the design and delivery of high-voltage and extra-high-voltage substations and transmission systems. This is an entry-level engineering role on project teams; typical responsibilities include:

  • Support design of substation and transmission projects, including equipment specifications and technical drawings
  • Participate in preparation of procurement specifications for major electrical equipment and related installation services
  • Perform engineering calculations, design checks, and documentation under the supervision of senior engineers
  • Coordinate with vendors and clients for design reviews and clarify technical requirements
  • Perform site visits as needed for construction coordination and field verification of designs
  • Use modern tools and automation to streamline workflows, summarize technical documents, and draft design deliverables

Qualifications

Essential (required)

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (strong preference: Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical)
  • Coursework or experience in coding, 3D modeling/design, and familiarity with agentic AI concepts
  • Understanding of electrical engineering principles and practical application to project design
  • Ability to read and produce technical plans, blueprints, and models; spatial visualization skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Valued but not required

  • BSEE, MSEE, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited program
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion and/or Engineer-in-Training designation
  • Internship or co-op experience in related engineering roles
  • Experience programming/scripting (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations or reporting
  • Prior work designing or developing AI applications or agents

Work Arrangement & Travel

  • Hybrid arrangement: typically three days per week in the office and two remote days
  • Some travel may be required to client or vendor offices and to construction sites for coordination and field verification

  • Dependent upon your location, a relocation package may be available

Compensation Range

  • $62,998 - $90,586 per year

This range is provided to comply with applicable pay transparency laws and reflects base salary only. Final compensation will depend on experience, location, and other factors; eligible employees may also participate in discretionary bonuses and benefits.
