Role Overview
This position supports Year 4 medical students in the College of Medicine. The coordinator will manage curriculum logistics, student communications, course pages, and multiple required rotations and programs (Intern 101, Critical Care, Sub-Internship, Geriatric Medicine, Integrated Year 4 courses). This is a full-time, contract role based in Charleston, SC.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as Coordinator for the Selectives & Electives Committee: schedule meetings, prepare agendas, take minutes, track action items, and communicate outcomes to stakeholders.
- Coordinate core elements of the Critical Care rotation: student orientation/didactics, POCUS probe management, RCE log tracking, course page maintenance, and grade submission tracking.
- Coordinate core elements of the Sub-Internship rotation: orientation, student communications, RCE log tracking, course page updates, and grade timeliness.
- Lead planning and logistics for the Intern 101 program (25%): develop schedule/curriculum with leadership, manage AV/rooms/speakers, on-site coordination, attendance tracking, and evaluation collection/reporting.
- Coordinate the Year 4 Geriatric Medicine course: administrative support, student communications, LMS course page updates, and evaluation/grade support.
- Oversee key Year 4 components and orientation: develop schedules, coordinate logistics (rooms, AV, catering), communicate expectations, and summarize evaluations.
- Manage NBME Step 2 Self-Assessment voucher distribution and serve as primary contact for voucher issues.
- Act as liaison for the Simulated Interprofessional Rounding Experience (SIRE): scheduling, coordination with simulation center and partner programs, and student communications.
- Coordinate Integrated Year 4 courses (Longitudinal Research, Developing Scholarly Skills, Design Your Own): manage applications, feedback, milestone tracking, evaluation collection, and LMS pages.
- Maintain Year 4 curriculum content: update course objectives, required encounters, pocket cards, and web content; coordinate annual content review and accreditation alignment.
- Provide administrative support to the clinical curriculum team and Assistant/Associate Deans: proctor NBME exams, assist with transcript audits, produce monthly newsletter, complete curriculum/assessment mapping, and support other curricular events and projects.
Compensation & Employment Type
- Salary range: $39,300 — $66,800 per year (based on experience and internal pay grade).
- Employment Type: Full-time (Contract).
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in student services, academic program coordination, or similar student-facing administrative roles.
- Proficiency with standard office software (email, calendar, spreadsheets) and comfort learning/maintaining LMS content.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience coordinating multi-stakeholder events.
- Demonstrated ability to track multiple tasks, manage deadlines, and follow through on action items.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a higher-education clinical curriculum or health professions training environment.
- Familiarity with NBME procedures, clinical encounter logging systems, or POCUS logistics.
- Experience taking meeting minutes, managing committee workflows, and preparing summary reports.
- Prior experience with course evaluation systems and curriculum mapping preferred.
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to perform extended periods of sitting and computer work; frequent walking and light physical tasks.
- Ability to lift or move objects up to ~50 lbs infrequently; routine office environment with occasional on-site event support.
- Computer literacy is required.
