Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Structural Engineering New Graduate to join a commercial structural team in Bozeman, MT. This full-time, in-office role provides hands-on design and analysis experience, structured mentorship, and a clear development path from EIT to PE. Estimated pay: $84,106 / year (estimated).

What You’ll Do

This role will give you exposure across the project lifecycle on commercial building projects. Typical responsibilities include:

• Assist in the design and analysis of structural systems (steel, concrete, wood, masonry) using industry software and tools
• Prepare calculations, specifications, and construction documents in accordance with code and quality standards
• Support project planning, scheduling, and delivery within budget and timeline constraints
• Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to gather requirements and communicate technical information
• Participate in quality control reviews and document design decisions
• Conduct site observations and review construction submittals as projects move into construction
• Research current industry practices, seismic retrofit approaches, resilience strategies, and sustainable design goals (e.g., SE2050)
• Prioritize safety and professional ethics in all engineering tasks

What You’ll Bring

Education & credentials

• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering required
• Master’s degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred
• Engineering in Training (EIT) certification preferred

Technical skills & strengths

• Knowledge of structural design principles and applicable codes for buildings and structures
• Familiarity with structural analysis and design software and basic BIM workflows
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively on teams and adapt to new challenges
• Willingness to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays

Preferred experience

• Internships or prior experience in building design consulting are a plus
