What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Structural Engineer to support bridge and structural design projects in Pittsburgh, PA (hybrid schedule). This role focuses on analysis, design, and rehabilitation of bridges and other structures for public-sector clients.

• Complete conceptual, preliminary, and detailed final designs of new bridges and structural elements
• Perform structural analysis and design of bridge components per applicable codes and standards
• Conduct analysis and rehabilitation design of existing bridges and structures
• Prepare and review engineering design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications
• Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to meet project scope, budget, and schedule
• Interpret and apply federal and state design standards and guidelines for publicly funded infrastructure projects
• Support preparation of construction cost estimates and design submittals
• Utilize CADD and design software for drawings and analysis
• Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week (hybrid)

What We’re Looking For

Minimum qualifications (one of the following):

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field plus 2 years relevant experience as a Structural or Civil Engineer; OR
• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with no required experience (experience may be gained via coursework, projects, or internships)

Technical skills and experience (required or strongly preferred):

• MS Office Suite
• Preparation of construction cost estimates
• CADD: MicroStation, AutoCAD, OpenBridge
• Design software: RCPIER, STAAD, CsiBridge (or equivalent)
• Industry design codes: AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
• DOT design requirements and manuals (BDs, BCs, DM-4)
• DOT design tools such as PSLRFD, STLRFD, BXLRFD, BPLRFD
• Steel girder design (AISC Steel Manual)
• Concrete design (ACI Manual)
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with project teams and manage multiple deliverables

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: USD 86,528 – USD 119,847 per year (range provided by the client)
• Hybrid work model with up to 3 days telecommute per week

• Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location
