Structural Engineer - Waterfront-Entry Level -Spring/Summer 2027
The Structural Engineer at Confidential Client will engage in the analysis, design, and rehabilitation of waterfront and structural infrastructure projects, working collaboratively with experienced engineers to develop technical expertise. This entry-level role involves using structural analysis software, preparing design documents, supporting construction administration, and participating in site inspections and client meetings, contributing to complex marine and waterfront infrastructure solutions.

What You’ll Do
- Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing for concrete, steel, timber, and composite structures on waterfront and heavy-civil projects.
- Develop design calculations, plans, specifications, quantity take-offs, and construction cost estimates.
- Use structural analysis and modeling software to support static and dynamic evaluations.
- Coordinate structural designs and drawings with engineers, drafters, project managers, and other disciplines.
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and condition assessments; prepare related technical reports.
- Support construction administration: review shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submittals.
- Take part in project and client meetings and continue developing independent engineering judgment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (structural coursework) or closely related discipline required.
- 0–2+ years relevant structural engineering experience; internships or co-op experience in heavy civil, marine, waterfront, or structural design preferred.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, or comparable drafting platforms.
- Proficiency or working familiarity with structural analysis tools such as SAP2000, STAAD, or comparable software.
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Availability and willingness to travel occasionally for project/site needs.
- Successful completion of a post-offer background check (per NIST 800-171) required.
- Employment subject to verification of legal authorization to work in the U.S.; our client uses E-Verify.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Prior experience on waterfront, port, or marine structural projects.
- Experience with dynamic analysis or advanced modeling workflows.
Employment Type, Location & Compensation
- Employment type: Contract / Full-time (as listed by our client).
- Location: North Hills, NC (onsite with occasional travel).
- Estimated compensation (as listed): $91,484 per year — confirm at interview. No wage is guaranteed; final pay is determined by the hiring organization and candidate experience.
