What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Structural Engineer to join their Austin, TX team starting Summer 2027. You’ll contribute to structural design, documentation, and field work across industrial and commercial projects while learning from senior engineers.
- Apply principles and practices for a wide range of materials and construction techniques
- Perform hand calculations and build computer analysis models for structural designs
- Determine and document applicable building codes and site-specific amendments
- Calculate gravity, wind, and seismic design loads
- Design common structural framing systems (steel, composite steel, joists)
- Design common foundation systems (spread footings, drilled piers) and estimate preliminary sizes
- Design mat slabs for tanks, vessels, and silos; design pipe bridges
- Coordinate structural work with other disciplines and review geotechnical reports
- Prepare sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and project documentation for quality assurance
- Perform quantity takeoffs and preliminary construction cost estimates
- Conduct field inspections, condition assessments, and site measurements
- Support procurement activities by contacting bidders for budget estimates
- Research materials and best practices and contribute to team knowledge/growth
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 0–3 years of relevant structural engineering experience (or comparable coursework/projects)
- Experience or coursework in structural calculations and analysis modeling
- Familiarity drafting structural and concrete details, contract drawings, and specifications in AutoCAD and Revit
- Experience with structural analysis software (RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, or similar)
- EIT / FE is desirable
- Strong planning, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed (approximately 15 days/year)
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Hands-on experience with RAM Structural System or RAM Elements
- Prior exposure to industrial or process-plant structural projects
- Experience estimating foundations and preliminary steel sizing
Physical & Other Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting and computer work
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
