Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Structural Engineer to join their Building Structural team in Darien, IL. This is a contract-to-hire, hybrid role focused on building design, field assessments, and construction administration. The position is a great fit for early-career engineers (0–5 years) who hold an EIT and are looking to grow technical and field experience.

What You’ll Do

• Perform structural engineering design and analysis for building systems under senior engineering guidance
• Participate in project meetings to coordinate with project teams and communicate designs
• Prepare engineering deliverables (drawings, calculations, reports)
• Conduct field surveys, condition assessments, and site investigations
• Support construction administration: review submittals, respond to RFIs, and observe construction activities
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and client expectations

Qualifications

• 0–5 years of structural engineering experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering
• EIT certification required
• Experience in building design
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
• Ability to perform fieldwork and site visits as required

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Revit experience (training provided if needed)
• Experience with RAM Structural System and SAP2000
• Internship experience relevant to structural engineering (for new graduates)

Work Environment & Schedule

• Open-office, collaborative environment within the Building Structural team
• Hybrid schedule: in-office four days/week with remote half-days on Fridays
• Standard workweek: 40 hours (occasional overtime possible)
• Office hours: 7:30 AM–5:15 PM Monday–Thursday; 7:30 AM–11:30 AM Friday
• Dress code: business professional Monday–Thursday; business casual on Fridays
• Office amenities: LEED Platinum building, ample parking, kitchen

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $30.00 – $50.00 per hour (contract-to-hire)
  • Individual compensation within this range is determined by qualifications, experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors
