What You’ll Do

This entry-level Structural Engineer role at our confidential client in the Engineering sector will give you hands-on exposure to structural analysis, material behavior, steel and reinforced concrete design, and field coordination for power-transmission projects.

  • Work on structural engineering assignments that include investigation, troubleshooting, and practical problem solving for transmission substation structures and supports.
  • Perform structural analysis and detailed design for steel structures, connections, concrete members, platforms, and foundations.
  • Produce integrated structural designs and supporting calculations for proposed modifications and upgrades.
  • Prepare technical specifications for structural materials and develop clear, code-compliant deliverables.
  • Review work produced by others, including calculations and drawings, to ensure accuracy and conformance with project requirements.
  • Communicate technical information directly with clients, vendors, and construction personnel.
  • Travel occasionally to client/vendor offices and substation sites for design reviews, field verification, and construction coordination.

Qualifications

Essential qualifications expected by our confidential client:

  • Bachelor of Science (BSCE) or Master of Science (MSCE) in Civil Engineering with strong coursework in material behavior, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce and document structural calculations and technical plans.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
  • Proficiency with one or more of: MathCad, STAAD Pro, RISA 3D, RISA Floor.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to present technical detail at the appropriate level for clients.
  • Ability to perform occasional site walk‑downs and to complete assignments accurately within budget and schedule.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • ABET-accredited BSCE or MSCE.
  • EIT certification or progress toward professional licensure.
  • Programming or scripting experience (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to support automation of calculations and checks.
  • Exposure to automation, AI-assisted workflows, or tools that improve engineering productivity and reduce rework.

AI & Automation Expectations

Our confidential client encourages practical use of modern tools to drive quality and efficiency:

  • Use data, automation, and AI responsibly to streamline calculations, summarize documentation, or draft technical content — always applying engineering judgment and verification.
  • Automation or scripting to automate routine checks and reporting is valued but not required.
  • Additional training in software engineering, AI, or related fields is a plus when applied to engineering problems.

Work Arrangement

  • Hybrid schedule: typically three days per week in the office and two days remote.
  • Occasional travel to project sites and client/vendor offices is required.
  • Relocation assistance may be available depending on candidate location.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $62,998 - $90,586 (range provided by the client).

  • Total compensation may include discretionary annual bonus eligibility and other incentives.
