What You’ll Do

This entry-level Structural Engineer will support the design and analysis of nuclear facilities and related modifications. You will work on engineering teams to convert academic knowledge into practical design solutions.

  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations using state-of-the-art computer tools.
  • Prepare design calculations, specifications, and supporting documentation for drawings.
  • Analyze loading conditions, including wind and seismic loads, and incorporate results into design.
  • Collaborate across disciplines (mechanical, civil, electrical) on new nuclear projects, plant betterment, and modifications.
  • Support drawing development and coordinate with designers, vendors, and construction staff.
  • Participate in design reviews and site visits as required for construction coordination and field verification.
  • Receive mentorship and training from experienced structural engineers; apply automation and data tools to improve workflows.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Structural/Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Strong academic background and interest in material behavior, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
  • Completion of coursework in steel and concrete design.
  • Knowledge of loads analysis and practical application of structural engineering principles to projects.
  • Familiarity with producing technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Preferred / Valued (but not required)

  • Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam passed; Engineer-in-Training designation.
  • Experience documenting structural engineering calculations.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software (MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, GT STRUDL, ANSYS).
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, N690, ACI 318, ACI 349).
  • Programming or scripting (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations or reporting.

Compensation

  • Base salary range: $62,998 - $90,586 per year.
  • Total compensation may include discretionary annual bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
