What You’ll Do
This entry-level Structural Engineer role supports design and analysis for nuclear projects. You will join a multidisciplinary engineering team and apply academic knowledge to real-world structural design tasks.
- Apply principles of materials behavior, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
- Prepare structural design calculations and develop technical specifications.
- Support designers with drawing development and documentation.
- Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations using industry tools.
- Evaluate loading conditions including wind and seismic effects and incorporate code requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and, when needed, travel to client/vendor offices or plant sites for construction coordination and field verification.
- Receive mentorship and training from experienced structural engineers.
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering (strong academic background in structural behavior and design).
- Completion of coursework in steel and concrete design.
- Understanding of loads analysis, structural design techniques, and production of technical plans and models.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Valued but not required
- Degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or designation as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT).
- Experience writing supporting documentation for structural calculations.
- Familiarity with structural analysis software such as MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, GT STRUDL, or ANSYS.
- Familiarity with codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, N690, ACI 318, and ACI 349.
- Programming or scripting (Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations and checks.

Location
This position is based in Chickamauga, TN (Chickamauga area) and is for candidates able to work from that location and travel to client or site locations as required.
