What You’ll Do
- Assist in analyzing and designing structural systems using steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and other building materials.
- Use structural analysis and design software to develop detailed designs, specifications, and calculations that meet code requirements and client expectations.
- Support project planning, scheduling, and budget monitoring to help projects meet milestones and financial goals.
- Interact with clients to gather project requirements and communicate technical information clearly and professionally.
- Help document design decisions, client instructions, and progress throughout the project lifecycle.
- Analyze low- to medium-complexity engineering tasks and collaborate with senior engineers to develop efficient, practical solutions.
- Participate in quality control processes to ensure designs meet industry standards and client requirements.
- Contribute to research, innovation, and best-practice adoption — including sustainability initiatives such as SE2050.
- Prioritize safety and uphold professional and ethical engineering practices.
- Participate across the full project lifecycle, including construction documents, submittal review, and job site observations.
What You’ll Bring
Required education and skills:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Knowledge of building design standards and structural systems for buildings.
- Strong technical and analytical skills in structural mechanics and materials.
- Experience or familiarity with structural analysis and design software and industry tools.
- Basic knowledge of BIM software.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering.
- Prior internship experience in building design consulting.
- Engineering in Training (EIT) license.

Compensation & Benefits
- State of California salary range: $76,000 – $80,000 per year.
- Actual pay will depend on experience, skills, and location. Additional rewards may include annual bonuses and stock/ownership options.
