Overview
This entry-level Structural and Dynamic Systems Engineer role (Analytical) supports simulation-led design and validation for power systems. The confidential client’s ALDV (Analysis Led Design & Validation) team in Seymour, IN uses computational tools and test correlation to provide design recommendations that meet customer and program requirements. This role is primarily engineering-focused with hybrid/telecommute flexibility.
What You’ll Do
You will execute simulation-based evaluations, correlate models to test data, and deliver analysis results that influence component and subsystem design decisions.
- Execute FEA and systems-level simulations (motion, natural frequencies, stress, loads, fatigue).
- Develop and run computational tools and scripts to support analysis workflows.
- Correlate models to test results and recommend design changes.
- Define appropriate modeling fidelity and methods for each stage of the product lifecycle.
- Lead analysis reviews and communicate technical conclusions to global stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Design, Thermal Sciences, Materials, and Product Validation teams.
- Use CAD (e.g., Creo) to extract geometry and product data for analysis.
- Mentor technicians or junior engineers and support continuous improvement of ALDV processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate product/system problems, determine root causes, and implement robust corrective actions.
- Apply dynamics, vibration, fatigue, and durability principles to quantify component life and performance.
- Use statistical methods (DOE, regression, ANOVA, confidence intervals) to support data-driven decisions.
- Produce technical documentation and present results in analysis reviews.
- Contribute to functional excellence and simulation-based product development initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related STEM field required.
- Entry-level / early career (designed for candidates within ~2 years of completing their highest degree).
- Familiarity with numerical methods and engineering fundamentals: statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, machine design.
- Experience or coursework in at least some of the following: MS Office, Matlab, Python, APDL-ANSYS, FORTRAN or C.
- Comfortable working in Windows/Linux and with desktop/remote HPC resources.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. (applicant location requirements apply for remote assignments).
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with ANSYS (FEA), FE‑Safe, GT, AVL or similar analysis tools.
- Experience correlating simulation models to test data.
- Experience working in CAD environments (Creo preferred).
- Demonstrated use of statistical tools for engineering decisions (regression, DOE, hypothesis testing).
- Internship or co-op experience, student team projects, or prior early-career engineering roles.
Compensation & Location
- Location: Seymour, IN (hybrid/telecommute flexibility).
- Base salary range (provided by client): $67,200 — $100,800 per year.
