Position Purpose
The Design Engineer (entry-level Structural Design Engineer) will work on structural design tasks under senior engineering supervision. This role supports project delivery by performing calculations, preparing documentation, coordinating with modelers, and supporting site work. Candidates are required to have passed or be preparing for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform structural design calculations and interpret applicable building codes
- Produce and document project communications and design assumptions
- Instruct BIM/Revit modelers on turning designs into completed structural drawings
- Assist in engineering evaluations, analyses, reports and design for new and existing facilities
- Participate in site visits and assist with field observations
- Review contractor submittals and shop drawings; prepare requests for information (RFIs)
- Research and identify governing criteria, codes, guides, and best practices
- Work under supervision of project managers and senior structural staff
- Coordinate with functional departments to meet project and corporate needs
- May travel to out-of-town/state assignments as required
- Adhere to the client’s corporate values and quality standards
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural focus or related undergraduate degree
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (entry-level)
- Passed or preparing to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam

- FE license (fundamentals completed / EIT preferred)
Physical Demands & Working Environment
- Primarily desk-based work; may involve occasional walking or standing during site visits
- Exerts up to 10 lbs. occasionally for light lifting or carrying
