Overview

Confidential client is hiring an entry-level Stress Engineer to support aircraft structural development. This role focuses on static analysis and/or fatigue & damage-tolerance (F&DT) work for metallic and composite airframe components. You’ll use a mix of hand-calculation methods and commercial tools to help produce safe, weight-efficient structures.

  • Estimated pay: $69,417 per year (estimated)
  • Employment type: Contract / Full-time
  • Work arrangement: On-site in Wichita, KS with some potential remote flexibility based on business needs
  • Travel: ~5% domestic/international

What You’ll Do

  • Perform routine static and fatigue/D&T analyses to verify structural integrity for airframe parts (detail sizing, layout maturation, weight trade-offs, certification support, in-service requests).
  • Document analytical results and support drawing sign-off using engineering toolsets (e.g., SAP, CATIA, VPM).
  • Collaborate with F&DT, design, and other engineering groups to develop practical solutions under guidance.
  • Prepare technical materials and briefings for internal or external stakeholders.
  • Support project planning and execute assigned tasks to meet customer requirements.
  • Communicate issues, status, and recommended solutions clearly to leads and supervisors.
  • Help identify local process improvements to increase team efficiency.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline with strong coursework in structural mechanics and materials.
  • 0–3 years of experience in static and/or F&DT stress analysis for airframe structures or system installations.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future need for visa sponsorship.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, procedures, and BOMs.
  • Comfortable producing technical documents and presentations with guidance.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Excel and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
  • Effective verbal and written communication in English; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Minor or coursework in Computer Science.
  • Internship or prior experience in aerospace/airframe stress analysis.
  • Experience with coding (C, C++, Python or similar).
  • Conversational French and/or German.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Vision, hearing, and speaking sufficient for extended computer work and meetings.
  • Ability to sit for long periods; occasional lifting/carrying of up to 30 lbs (monthly).
  • May require occasional squatting/kneeling or pushing/pulling small equipment.
  • Work may be onsite or partially remote depending on business needs.
