Overview
Confidential client is seeking a Station Engineer / Engineering Technologist (Associate) to support Transmission System Operations Engineering (TSOE). This role supports engineering work that ensures configuration changes and work on the transmission grid comply with NERC and industry standards. The position is hands-on with field coordination, drawing reviews, outage reviews, and root cause analyses to keep system records accurate and facilities correctly rated.
What You’ll Do
- Provide engineering support to Transmission Field Services during final commissioning and verification of planned and unplanned work on the transmission grid.
- Review upcoming system outages to identify required configuration changes and impacts.
- Review engineering drawings and project documentation to ensure systems of record match as‑built conditions.
- Perform root cause analysis on system-of-record discrepancies and recommend process improvements to ensure accurate facility ratings.
- Interpret codes, regulations and develop standards relevant to your assignment.
- Lead, facilitate and coordinate routine engineering work; provide guidance and direction to other engineers and technical staff.
- Prepare clear technical reports for management, regulatory bodies, and professional audiences.
- Participate in planning, budget input, and project scheduling activities (CPM, PERT, flow charts).
- Coordinate and deliver training; promote engineering professionalism and standards.
Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
Note: Applicants may be considered at two levels depending on education and experience.
Engineer / Engineering Technologist — Associate (SG6) — entry level

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program is required.

- Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is encouraged and preferred.
Engineer / Engineering Technologist (SG7) — mid level

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program plus 2+ years relevant engineering experience; OR

- Master’s degree in engineering (ABET‑accredited) may qualify a candidate for this level; OR
-
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology plus a certified Professional Engineer (PE) license may satisfy requirements.

- Candidates with non‑ABET bachelor's plus a master’s or PhD from a school with an ABET‑accredited bachelor’s program may also be considered.

- VP-level approval may waive certain degree accreditation requirements in exceptional cases.
Required skills and attributes (applicable to both levels):
- Strong technical aptitude in transmission systems and related equipment interrelationships.
- Ability to analyze conflicting or incomplete data and drive corrective actions.
- Effective communicator — written and verbal — with experience preparing technical reports and leading meetings.
- Team leadership, collaboration, and consensus-building skills.
- Business awareness: ability to manage project budgets and understand cost/revenue impacts.
- Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance (NERC and industry standards).
Where You’ll Work
- This role sits on site in New Albany, Ohio. (The original posting also referenced Salem, Virginia as an alternate site; confirm location preference during interview/offer.)
Compensation & Benefits
- Posted pay ranges (depending on grade/level):
- Engineer / Engineering Technologist SG6: $84,000 – $90,000 per year
- Engineer / Engineering Technologist SG7: $89,000 – $110,000 per year
- Additional compensation data (provided by client): Compensation Range $74,551 – $109,543 (grade dependent).
