Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Station Engineer / Engineering Technologist (Associate) to support Transmission System Operations Engineering (TSOE) activities in New Albany, OH. This role provides engineering support for commissioning, configuration verification, and NERC-related compliance activities that ensure the transmission grid is accurately recorded and safely operated.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support to Transmission Field Services for final commissioning and verification of planned and unplanned work on the transmission grid.
- Review upcoming system outages to identify required configuration changes and compliance impacts.
- Verify engineering drawings and project documentation so systems of record match as-built conditions.
- Perform root cause analysis on discrepancies between systems of record and field conditions; recommend process improvements and corrections to facility ratings.
- Interpret codes, standards, and regulations relevant to transmission station equipment and grid configuration.
- Lead or coordinate technical work with cross-functional teams and contractors; prepare clear technical reports and presentations for management and regulatory stakeholders.
- Coach and guide other engineers as required; support training and knowledge transfer activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required for entry at the Associate (SG6) level. Candidates with a non-ABET bachelor’s degree plus an advanced degree from an ABET-aligned program may also be considered.
- SG6 (Entry): New graduates with a Bachelor’s in engineering. Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is encouraged.
- SG7: Bachelor’s degree (ABET) plus 2+ years’ relevant engineering experience, or a Master's degree in engineering (ABET) may qualify for entry at this level. Candidates with a bachelor’s in Engineering Technology may qualify if they obtain a PE license.
- Strong technical judgment, problem solving and root-cause analysis skills.
- Familiarity with transmission systems, station equipment, and industry/NERC standards desirable.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and experience coordinating across field, engineering, and operations teams.
- Ability to work flexible hours (may include nights, weekends, holidays) as required for outage support and commissioning activities.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States. Confidential Client will comply with applicable federal, state and local employment laws.
Where You’ll Work
- On-site in New Albany, OH. This role requires regular on-site presence to support field commissioning and verification activities.
Compensation & Benefits
- Engineer / Engineering Technologist SG6: $84,000 - $90,000 per year (estimated)
- Engineer / Engineering Technologist SG7: $89,000 - $110,000 per year (estimated)
- Representative compensation range (Confidential Client): $74,551 - $109,543 per year.
