What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Staff Services Analyst I/II to perform professional-level analytical work in administrative, fiscal, staff development, and/or program analysis for a county Child Support Services department. This position supports planning, reporting, policy review, fiscal claiming, and program improvement initiatives that impact federal/state funding and local performance goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative and program analyses; compile, tabulate, and analyze data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
  • Prepare reports, policy/procedure recommendations, and correspondence for management and external stakeholders.
  • Review legislation and regulations and analyze potential impacts on programs and funding.
  • Support fiscal operations: process invoices, create purchase orders, reconcile CAL Card expenses, and prepare billing/claim files.
  • Use Finance Enterprise (or similar county financial systems) to process transactions and reconcile accounts.
  • Produce and analyze Tableau dashboards and other data visualizations to monitor performance and guide decision-making.
  • Assist with training new staff; may supervise clerical/technical staff as an ancillary duty.
  • Represent the department in meetings and prepare presentations for boards, commissions, and community groups.
  • Participate in quality assurance, performance measure development, and cross-departmental projects.

Ideal Candidate & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of county fiscal procedures and experience with Finance Enterprise or similar county financial systems.
  • Proven experience processing invoices, reconciling CAL Card charges, creating purchase orders, and matching costs to contracts.
  • Experience balancing salary and benefits entries for monthly budget/claiming systems.
  • Skilled in extracting and analyzing data from Tableau dashboards to produce actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating across departments.

Minimum Qualifications

Staff Services Analyst I

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college/university OR
  • Two years (60 semester / 90 quarter units) of college AND two years full-time technical experience in administrative, fiscal, personnel, staff development, or program work. Additional para‑professional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Staff Services Analyst II

  • One year of full-time experience comparable to Staff Services Analyst I with the Confidential Client OR
  • Bachelor’s degree AND one year of professional experience in administrative, fiscal, program, or staff development analytical work. Additional progressively responsible experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Special Requirements & Physical Demands

  • Some positions may require possession of a valid California driver’s license and acceptable driving record for County business.
  • Typical office environment with moderate noise level; regular sitting, talking, hearing, occasional standing/walking, reaching, and lifting up to 10 pounds.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary range for this combined recruitment: $54,012 — $76,020 per year (range covers Staff Services Analyst I through II levels).
  • This classification participates in the Confidential Client’s benefits and retirement programs (e.g., CalPERS where applicable). Specific benefits vary by appointment and bargaining unit.
