What You’ll Do

Confidential Client seeks a near-entry-level geotechnical professional to support Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Materials Testing/Inspection (CMT) work on public and private projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Support geotechnical and CMT projects from field work through reporting
  • Conduct and document test borings and test pits during subsurface explorations
  • Perform, collect, review, and analyze geotechnical field and laboratory data
  • Classify soils and evaluate subsurface conditions per applicable standards
  • Prepare geotechnical calculations, engineering analyses, and technical reports
  • Review daily CMT field reports for accuracy and completeness when serving in a Project Manager role
  • Assist senior engineers and project managers with project planning and execution
  • Perform on-site construction materials testing and inspection services (soil, concrete, and related materials) as needed
  • Ensure testing and inspection activities meet project specifications, quality requirements, and applicable standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience; professional internships completed during college will be considered
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
  • Ability to interpret engineering and construction plans and specifications
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in both office and field environments
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and overnight travel assignments
  • Ability to lift and carry 60–80 pounds (soil/concrete samples and testing equipment)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting geotechnical investigations, testing, and monitoring programs
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and common engineering software
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining quality and client service
  • Experience in client-facing roles and supporting business development activities
  • Self-motivated with a strong commitment to technical excellence and customer service

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $65,000 – $80,000 per year (Confidential Client)

  • Opportunity to progress to Project Engineer I based on performance, leadership, and business development contributions

Location & Work Conditions

  • Worksite: Savage, MD — combination of office, field, and occasional overnight travel assignments
  • Field work will require physical tasks, including lifting and moving samples and equipment
  • This position reports to Professional Engineers and may serve as Project Manager on select CMT or geotechnical projects
