Position summary
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is hiring a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to support geotechnical engineering, field exploration, laboratory testing, and report preparation. This is an entry-level/early-career technical role working under the supervision of experienced engineers. The position is based in Barrett Parkway, GA and will include site visits and field work; occasional nights or weekends may be required.
What You’ll Do
- Direct and execute geotechnical project assignments, including engineering analysis and geotechnical recommendations.
- Prepare geotechnical reports and project-level proposals; ensure deliverables meet client commitments.
- Plan, supervise and perform field exploration activities (borings, test pits, in-situ testing).
- Collect and process laboratory samples; oversee laboratory testing and data QA/QC.
- Provide on-site oversight and geotechnical testing during design and construction phases.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, environmental, construction) and communicate findings to project stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- BS degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering required.
- Strong foundation in soil mechanics, geotechnical analysis, and laboratory testing of soils.
- Able to conduct and supervise field exploration and sampling activities.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and reliable driving record required.
- Willingness to perform field work and occasional travel to job sites in the region.
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications
- MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
- Prior geotechnical engineering experience or internship experience preferred.
- Experience preparing geotechnical reports and practical foundation/recommendation development preferred.
- E.I.T. (Engineers-in-Training) certification strongly preferred.
Compensation & Work Details
- Estimated pay (from source): $67,177 per year — estimated. Exact compensation and benefits will be provided by the Confidential Client during the hiring process.
- Employment type: Full-time, permanent.
- Work location: Barrett Parkway, GA (onsite and field work as required).
