What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level Staff Geologist role supporting soil and groundwater assessment, remediation, and related environmental field programs. You will work on-site, perform field sampling, support remediation and monitoring activities, and contribute to technical reports under project supervision.

  • Conduct field work for Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), including soil, groundwater, and soil‑vapor sampling
  • Oversee contractors and drillers during monitoring well installation, soil excavation, and demolition work
  • Coordinate long‑term groundwater monitoring programs (e.g., quarterly events)
  • Assist with permits and public utility locate requests for environmental construction tasks
  • Provide construction oversight on remediation projects and support operations & maintenance of remediation systems
  • Assist with data interpretation and preparation of site work plans, spreadsheets, figures, conceptual site models, and technical reports
  • Follow the site Health & Safety program and maintain safe field practices
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, regulators, tenants, and clients
  • Work within quality, budget, schedule expectations and assigned scopes

What You’ll Bring (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 0–2 years of experience with soil and groundwater assessment and remediation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel by car and airplane (overnight travel for extended periods may be required)
  • Able to perform physical work in outdoor and sometimes harsh weather conditions
  • Job duties performed on-site (not remote)

Preferred / Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Erosion Sediment Control Lead (CESCL)
  • OSHA 40‑Hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Washington UST/AST Site Assessment certification
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Geologist‑in‑Training (GIT) registration in Oregon and/or Washington

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Soil classification and borehole logging; well design & construction
  • Understanding of contaminant fate & transport and conceptual site models
  • Sampling of environmental media (soil, groundwater, air, soil‑vapor)
  • Mechanical/electrical troubleshooting of remediation systems
  • Technical writing and development of technical documents and reports

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $65,000 - $75,000 (final compensation will be commensurate with education, experience, and location)
