What You’ll Do

This opportunity is for a Staff Engineer at a confidential client that provides structural engineering services. In this full-time, entry-level role based in Raleigh, NC, you will design structural systems and elements for a variety of project types (manufacturing, distribution, data centers, commercial, historic, public sector, adaptive reuse, and renovations). You will perform analysis, prepare drawings and specifications, participate in project meetings, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure deliverables meet codes and client expectations.

  • Performs analysis of existing structures and develops design solutions
  • Prepares drawings and specifications for construction documents and reviews for code compliance
  • Performs calculations per design specifications and industry standards
  • Uses structural design software to model and analyze structures
  • Creates and reviews drawings, submittals, and structural documents
  • Attends client, architect, and contractor meetings and communicates technical findings
  • Collaborates with senior engineers and design technicians; learns to support business development and client engagement
  • Shares information across disciplines to confirm deliverables meet quality standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (0–2 years experience) or Master’s in Civil Engineering
  • EIT certification preferred
  • BIM training or experience is a plus

Required Skills & Tools

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision and take on additional responsibilities
  • Effective working independently and as part of a project team in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience or familiarity with structural design software (examples): TEKLA Structural Designer, RAM Structural Systems, ETABS, SAFE, SAP, RAM Elements, RISA
  • Solid understanding of building codes, standards, and structural analysis fundamentals

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated base salary: $74,131 per year (estimated)
