Position Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Staff Engineer to join their Highway & Traffic team in Wall Township, NJ. This entry-level opportunity (0–2 years) is ideal for early-career civil engineers who want hands-on experience in roadway design and traffic engineering, using industry tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, and HCS. You will support project delivery across design, analysis, and construction phases while working alongside experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of roadway and traffic engineering plans (alignments, profiles, signage, striping, and maintenance of traffic).
• Support traffic engineering studies such as traffic impact studies, signal warrant analyses, and capacity analysis.
• Collect and analyze field data, including traffic counts and observations.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentation.
• Use design and analysis software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, HCS).
• Coordinate with internal project teams across multiple disciplines.
• Attend project meetings and support client coordination as needed.
• Support construction phase services, including shop drawing review and field inspections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience (internship or co-op experience preferred).
• Basic knowledge of roadway and/or traffic engineering principles.
• Familiarity with NJDOT, AASHTO, and MUTCD standards is a plus.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, HCS preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple tasks.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Benefits & Compensation

• Benefit packages begin on day one and include medical, dental, vision, HSA/FSA/DCFSA options, and 401(k) retirement plans where applicable.
• Paid sick leave and other paid time off as required by applicable law.
• Projected compensation range: $75,000 to $80,000 per year. Actual pay depends on experience, education, and qualifications. Performance bonuses may apply.
